This heritage centre celebrates Aboriginal history and culture of the Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). Featuring a 53,000 square foot complex, there are five contemporary longhouses consisting of a greeting house, trading house, eating house, performing house and Bill Reid teaching centre and canoe house. A gallery and carving shed is also found here.
The Qay'llnagaay Heritage Centre is located next to the original site of the old Haida village of Qay'llnagaay, meaning Sea Lion Town. On the site are replicas of traditional Haida long houses facing the water, a museum, a cultural interpretive centre, the Bill Reid School of Art and a 250-seat performing arts theatre.
